This isn't a hotel. It's our home. You are our guest.
When you stay with us during your Custom Piece commission and design session, you're not booking a room at a bed-and-breakfast in the usual sense — we never charge extra for the service because you're staying in our actual house, on our actual farm, as our guest. Your room is our guest bedroom. Breakfast is made in our kitchen. And you'll likely see us in pajamas before you see us in the studio. We think that's exactly the point. Glen & Fleece was never meant to feel like a transaction. If you're commissioning a piece that will be in your family for generations, we'd rather you leave having shared a table with us than having checked out of a room.
We are also a musical family so if you play an instrument - bring it! We love to Jam!!
House Values
Glen & Fleece is a faith-based home. We say a blessing before meals, and we won't apologize for that — but we also don't expect anyone else to share our beliefs. Your spirituality, whatever it is or isn't, is your own business and deserves the same respect we'd like for ours. We're not interested in debate or confrontation about it, and we hope you aren't either.
A few house rules, kept simple:
- No alcohol. We ask that you not bring or consume alcohol during your stay.
- No smoking indoors. If you smoke, please step well away from doors and windows.
- No illegal substances of any kind, including where recreational use may be locally legal.
Meet the household
You won't be staying alone with strangers behind a front desk — you'll be staying with us, and with the rest of the family:
● Two Belgian Malinois — yes, the "working breed" everyone's seen in movies. Ours are well-trained, socialized, and part of daily farm life, but they are large, high-energy dogs with strong personalities that think they are 6 lb. lap dogs. If you're nervous around big dogs, this is worth knowing before you book.
● Two cats — considerably less intimidating, considerably more likely to end up fitting on your lap or sleeping in your suitcase.
If you or anyone traveling with you has a serious dog or cat allergy, please let us know when you inquire — we want to plan around that honestly rather than have it be a surprise on arrival.
Other lodging options
RVs- There are many RV Parks near here with full hookups. We also have a 50 AMP RV Hookup available with water (you will need to arrange a grey/black tank dump) although we do have a septic system you can use if you have a portable tank.
Hotels- If you prefer your "space" (we get it), There are numerous nice hotels within a 15 minute drive of the Farm in both Tyler and in Lindale, Texas
Getting Here
Airports- We are served by a regional airport, Tyler Pounds (TYR) a 10 minute drive to the farm, and by a large international airport 1 hour and 30 minutes away at Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW).
Driving - We are just a short hop off I-20 near Tyler and Lindale Texas
What to expect
● A private guest room in our home, not a separate cottage or detached suite
● Home-cooked meals, shared conversation, and full access to the studio for fittings, pelt selection, and design discussion
● A working farm environment — huge garden, Pecan orchard, and a few chickens are all thats left these days. There is plenty of land though and you may experience the occasional bit of real life happening around you
● The kind of hospitality that comes from genuinely wanting you here, not from a hospitality department
Who this is for
This stay is best suited to guests who want an immersive, personal experience as part of their commission — the kind of trip where the story of the piece includes the trip itself. If you'd prefer a more traditional, private hotel stay nearby instead, we're happy to recommend options in Tyler and still host your studio visit and fitting during the day.
Either way, we want you to arrive knowing exactly what you're walking into — and we think, for the right guest, it's the best part of the whole experience.
Bringing Your Own Pet
Since you'll already be sharing our home with our own dogs and cats, we're happy to welcome your pet too — with a few firm requirements, since this is our house and our resident animals' home as well:
● Current on immunizations, no exceptions.
● Non-destructive and house-trained, no exceptions.
If your pet isn't fully house-trained, that's okay — but they'll need to be crated whenever they're not directly supervised. This keeps things comfortable for everyone in the house, including our own animals.
If you're flying, we do have crates available - no need to slog one all the way here!
Please mention your pet, their breed, and their temperament when you inquire, so we can plan a smooth introduction with our resident Malinois' and cats.
Things to do in Tyler and the local Region
Tyler is the Rose Capital of America, and there's plenty to fill your visit beyond the studio. The Tyler Rose Garden is the nation's largest municipal rose garden, and if your trip lands in spring, the ten-mile Tyler Azalea Trail winds through historic brick-street neighborhoods in bloom. For the outdoorsy, Tyler State Park offers over 13 miles of hiking and biking trails through pine and hardwood forest alongside its spring-fed lake, and the Caldwell Zoo and Tyler Museum of Art round out a full day in town. Downtown Tyler has its own personality too — Hit the Bricks happens every second Saturday with local shops, food, and music, and the city hosts events year-round from the Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival to the fall Tyler Art Festival. If you time it right, October brings the Texas Rose Festival itself — one of Tyler's biggest annual celebrations. Whether you want quiet trails or downtown energy, it's all a short drive from the farm.
